Abstract

This diploma thesis is focused on determination of dynamic friction coefficient of metal-ceramic brake pads and on analysis of their frictional surface. Properties of brake linings before and after braking are compared, while their usage is simulated on a brake dynamometer. Among the studied parameters, besides friction coefficient, are wear characteristics. Abrasion particles and changes in surface are determined as well. Three different samples are studied, two of them metal-ceramic and one commercial semi-metallic for comparison. Changes in composition and structure of the frictional surface are studied with several analytic methods. Structural properties are described using both optical and electron microscopy, the composition of studied samples was analyzed using energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy.
