Abstract

The main goal of my work is to design the layout of the cognitive paths, that are leading to the mine spoil heaps. These are connected with the visit of the coal-miner museum or an open-air museum, where people are more closely familiarizated with the coal mining theme. In some places is the posibility to enter the underground. Paths suppose to make visitors ware of antropogenic bodies and show how they varies from surroundings. The objective of my work is to define the natural conditions in the area of the Ostrava-Karviná mining district (OKR), which includes the geological situation, geomorphology of the area and mine spoil heaps as well. I´m describing the climate conditions, fauna and flora and also I´m mentioning about the thermal activity within the mine spoil heaps. In the next section I present a brief history of mining in the area of OKR and also I´m describing these mine spoil heaps. The Ostrava´s part of Coal Mining district has two-hundred years long history of mining. In the year 1994 the mining activity was completely stopped in the Ostrava´s part of mining district, but there were left many mine spoil heaps, which are dominants of the postindustrial landscape around Ostrava city. As far as the area in Karviná goes, the coal mining still continues.
