Abstract

This dissertation deals with the problem of determination of temperature explosive limits as a technical safety parameter when the temperature explosive limits are often a neglected possibility how to express by liquids their level of impending danger. The problem of temperature explosive limits as a technical safety parameter deals especially with situations when we meet substances that are not evaporable or in such cases that include aqueous solutions of flammable matters. In both above mentioned cases it is not possible to determine concentration explosive limits and therefore it is not possible to properly evaluate the substation from the point of view of explosion. There are consequently situations, when the safety sheets have an empty box indicating the value of lower or upper explosive limit, eventually with a note, that the assigned value was not determined that is of course an unsatisfactory situation. The dissertation is focused on a design of suitable methodology of temperature explosive limits determination; it deals with a design of a device suitable for determination of temperature explosive limits and states a convenient working procedure to set this parameter. The temperature explosive limits have in practical application as a technical safety parameter higher predicative value than more often provided concentration explosive limits because they state temperature directly and there is no need to further specialization. Temperature explosive limits are therefore a suitable parameter that quickly and uniquely refers to possible sudden deviations from working conditions in technologies. In the submitted thesis the attention is paid also to the functionality verification of the designed methodology on the device that was designed and constructed to this purpose. It is a device with a marking “Explosive test chamber VK-20”. A part of the thesis is also focused on the constructed device from the point of view of other possible applications for another type of measurement and determination of safety parameters of gases and vapors of flammable liquids. These safety parameters of gases and vapors of flammable liquids are concentration explosive limits and determination of inert matter influence on explosive space. The device constructed within the dissertation thesis appeals as highly useful by determination of above mentioned characteristics and, thanks to its low requirements on attendance, also as a device appropriate for being a part of practical instruction in the field of testing within the area of fire safety.
