Abstract

This bachelor work examines the impact of automobile traffic on the environment. The negative effects on the enviroment are described in the opening of the work. One of the most significant effects is the impact on agricultural soil, because it is the source of food for mankind and also water contamination, since water is essential for all living organisms. The next part of this work maps the development of motor engines and fuel, from the first tests and failures to working propulsion engines, which were an inspiration to other engineers. First of the engines was a two stroke engine, which was followed by a four stroke engine. Ultimately, the compression-ignition engine was constructed, and is being used up to the present day. The following chapter addresses classical motor fuels, such as gas and oil. Alternative propulsion systems (oil gas, earth gas, biofuels, electromobiles, hybrid propulsion, hydrogen propulsion) follow in the next chapter. The last part of this work contains a comparation of the effects of alternative and classical fuels.
