Abstract
This work deals with research on the effect of mixing technology on the flow properties of particulate matter. In the first part of the work, you can find a summary of the basic theoretical knowledge about the flow properties of bulk solids, about the mixing process and the difficulties that may arise during it. Next, the basic principles of mixing devices are described and examples of these devices are given. The methodology for evaluating the homogenity of mixtures is also described. Three mixers developed for the purposes of this study are described. Abrasive materials were mixed, namely three fractions of steel grit. Each of the grits was mixed in a volume ratio of 50:50 with steel granulate using three different technologies. Basic mechanical-physical parameters and flow properties were measured for all input parameters. For the purpose of verifying the functionality of the designed gravity mixer, a simulation of material mixing was performed in DEM. The mixing quality was evaluated for all created mixtures and their flow properties were measured. The effect of the mixing technology on the flow properties of the mixtures was monitored on these results. To verify the influence of mixing technology on the flow properties of mixtures in a real environment, an experiment was carried out on a Thompson valve regulating the flow of abrasives in blasting booths. The difference in flows of the same mixtures made in three different ways was evaluated.
