Abstract

Infrastructure of towns, villages and approximately 94 % of the population living in the Czech Republic are entirely dependent on fluency and security of water supply. Water supply systems are in comparison with other types of infrastructure largely prone to extraordinary events induced by natural and anthropogenic factors. The thesis deals with risk assessment of water supply systems and consequences which people suffer due to these risks. Interruption of water supply has always exceedingly negative impact on public and private infrastructure, which mostly leads to decommissioning. There are a few possibilities, arising from risk scenario, how to reduce the risks. The diploma paper defines the risks and through the use of suitable method and two exemplary cases indicates how to distinguish hazard and how to minimize negative impacts on water consumers.
