Abstract

This thesis deals with potential threat to crew of high pressure cutting system during sudden pressure changes in system. This threat is evaluated primarily as a danger to firefighters using Cold Cut System Cobra. The thesis studied the time course of the pressure drop on the hose lines of various lengths during the emergency shutdown of the pump. Comparison of high-pressure water jet cutting and other cutting methods is included in the first part of the thesis. The following chapter deals with fluid pressure, methods of pressure measurement and theoretical analysis of pressure changes in real hose line. The next section describes briefly the Cold Cut System Cobra, the emergency shutdown of this device and the dangers associated with it. Experimental measurements are presented in the last chapter. The conclusions of this thesis can be used in any working place using high-pressure water jet.
