Abstract
This thesis analyzes Finnish geoparks and their significance for the development of geological tourism. The study examines the concept of geoparks, their functions, their role in preserving geological heritage, and their importance for the sustainable development of regions. Special attention is given to UNESCO Global Geoparks. The thesis provides an overview of five Finnish geoparks: Rokua, Saimaa, Salpausselkä, Lappajärvi, and Lauhanvuori–Hämeenkangas. For each of them, the geological features, natural conditions, tourism infrastructure, and socioeconomic significance are described. A comparative study was also conducted between the Finnish Rokua Geopark and the Czech Bohemian Paradise Geopark, identifying similarities and differences in approaches to geotourism development, land management, and the utilization of natural potential.
