Abstract
Thesis focuses on the design and implementation of a software application intended for the simulation and animation of the light output of LED arrays used in automotive lighting systems. The thesis first summarizes the fundamental principles of light propagation from LED sources, their photometric properties, and mathematical models describing the projection of luminous flux onto a plane as well as its spatial distribution.
Based on this analysis, a software application is designed that enables the definition of LED array geometry, segmentation of lighting elements, and the creation of animation scenarios with time-varying intensity of individual LEDs. The application supports the generation of image layers for individual light points and their composition into the resulting animation of lighting effects.
The functionality of the proposed solution is verified using demonstration scenarios simulating typical automotive lighting effects such as dynamic turn indicators and the coming-home function. The resulting application represents a tool suitable for the design and visualization of LED lighting effects in the early stages of animation development and lighting system design.
