Abstract

The diploma thesis „Fault finding on the water supply network using the satellite technology“ deals with the possibility of using the latest available technology to identify hidden leaks in the water supply network and its practical use in the city of Ostrava and other cities in Czechia. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the issues associated with finding hidden leaks, which including the theory of water losses, causes of failures leading to losses and the technologies used to locate them. The practical part of the thesis describes the localization of potential faults using the satellite technology in the city of Ostrava, and the argeted searches in selected localities with likely occurrences of faults in the water supply network. The research results were also compared with other projects in Czechia.
