Abstract

The bachelor thesis is focused on the possibilities to optimize the blast furnace charge and charging of nut coke in blast furnace. Advantages of nut coke usage in blast furnace are: an effective utilization of low value product generated during carbonization of coking coal, a reduction on blast furnace coke consumption in the blast furnace, an improvement of blast furnace productivity and reduction on production cost of hot metal. The aim of the work was to evaluate the influence of nut coke mixed with iron bearing materials in blast furnace charge on the operational and technical parameters of the blast furnace process. The comparison of blast-furnace charge was performed in the period without the absence of nut coke in the ore burden and in the period with nut coke in the ore burden. Following was the evaluation of the results.
