Abstract
The objective of this diploma thesis was to create an optical system, which can be used in machine vision, to acquire image data, which have to meet certain condition, and then to pass this data to additional processing. The optical system is composed of appropriately selected components – camera, lens and illumination. Objects, which were scanned and analyzed, are jewelry stones. These stones contain so called rough production defects. These defects are influencing optical-esthetic attributes and that is reason for its detection and exclusion. Currently the control of jewelry stones is done by people and that control is subjective. Algorithms for acquiring images and image preprocessing were created in programming environment called LabVIEW.
