Abstract

Intermediate frequency amplifier is one of the key elements of radio recievers working on the principle of indirect signal amplification. Thanks to this element are these quite modern radio recievers albe to achieve much better transmitting parameters, especially in the area of selectivity and sensitivity, than the older type of radio recivers working on the principle of direct signal amplification. The ultimate goal of this work is to explain how exactly these basic types of radio recievers work and what is the purpose of intermediate frequency amplifier, which, as was said before, is an important part of radio recievers working on the principle of indirect signal amplification. Next, this work describes every single step in the process of designing a simple intermediate frequency amplifier – choosing input parameters, choosing the best circuit design, calculating exact value for each of the components and finally, measuring all diffrent kinds of electrical parameters.
