Abstract

Currently, all water is continuously being contaminated by toxic agents. Contaminants include large amounts of toxic metals, which include copper in the form of Cu2+ cations. The thesis deals with the adsorption of Cu 2+ cations to shell biosorbents of the royal walnut (Juglans regia), which is known as a low-cost sorbent. The work consists of a theoretical part which introduces to the reader with the issues and the experimental part, which describes the methodology and the results of performed analyses. The Freundlich and Langmuir model of adsorption isotherms were applied to the measured values. The experimental part has shown that with appropriate activation of the grain-size adjusted Juglans regia sorbent, it is possible to remove up to 86 % of the Cu2 + cations.
