Abstract

The major aim of this bachelor’s thesis is to design an off-grid wind power system for a secluded chalet in the Ore mountains. The first part of the present thesis deals with the constructional design of small-scale wind power plants. The section describes in detail the individual parts of a wind power plant. The second part provides an overview of the possible operation modes of small-scale wind power plants. The functions and operation modes of a small-scale wind power plant are discussed. The third part contains a description of the design of an off-grid power system for a chalet in the Ore mountains in a location, where a connection to the distribution grid is not possible. This off-grid power system consists of electric power storage sources, namely from a wind power plant and a backup power storage source. Furthermore, the thesis conducts research of the Czech wind power plants market. Based on the results, a suitable wind power plant and additional electric devices for the off-grid power system are selected. The final part of the present thesis evaluates the efficiency and the rate of return of the wind power plant in year-round operation as compared to the purchase and construction price of connecting the chalet to the electrical grid.
