Abstract

This diploma thesis deals with the layout of a warehouse and the system of storage and picking in the warehouse. Its aim was to evaluate how these factors influence the biggest problems that warehouse workers encounter. The evaluation was based on ABC and XYZ analyses, and the results show that the current layout of items and the storage system cause significant time losses through long routes and searching for handling units. In conclusion, specific steps are formulated that will reduce time losses by up to 95%. Furthermore, solutions were proposed for problems with adhering to the FIFO principle and excessive inventory overflowing the Warehouse.
