The object of the thesis, entitled „Reduction of Surface Defects Occurrence for Slabs at Sequence Start Regarding Final Product Quality“ was to determine the effect of different types of casting powders on the final quality of the first slab in the sequence. Four different types of mould powders were compared in order to make the right choice of casting powder for opening of the continuous casting sequence. The recommendations to reduce first slab surface defects occurrence are introduced based on the results obtained.
