Abstract

Synthetic fibers are relatively new variant of Soil Reinforcement. Most of the information on this topic can be obtained from foreign sources under the keywords "random reinforcement" - random reinforcement, "fiber reinforcement" - fibrous reinforcement. Improving the properties of the soil consist in uniform dislocation of synthetic fibers throughout the volume. The expected result is an increase in shear strength and bearing capacity of the resulting composite material. The main goal of this thesis is to present the results of the direct shear tests made in a geotechnical laboratory in University in Žilina Then verify the application of this method by using mathematical modeling program Plaxis. Polyester fiber length of 70 mm was supplied by Bonar geosynthetics Inc. with headquarters in the Slovak Republic.
