Abstract
The doctoral dissertation, hereinafter referred to as PhD thesis, systemically deals with the issue of risk management of building companies in the Czech Republic. The key aspect that is solved in this thesis is frequent occurrence of implementations of constructions unfinished in the determined deadlines. The topicality of this issue is the reason why it was elaborated.
The aim of PhD thesis is modification of the tool called Theory of constraints, used in management of the time schedules of projects so that this tool is usable for managing the construction projects, and then subsequent verification of its applicability.
The PhD thesis takes up on two previous surveys that already have aimed at solving this problem. But unlike these surveys here the selected aspects of risk management will be investigated more closely.
The above tool called Theory of constraints, used in management of the time schedules of projects and is embedded into the systemic risk management framework, follows in finding of systematization in risk management in building companies in the Czech Republic. In validation of functionality and applicability of the tool was used the Critical Path Method.
On the basis of the section of validation in this PhD thesis were determined the benefits in the form of time-savings and cost-savings of construction. The results and conclusions of the PhD thesis can mean benefits for the management of the construction project. Principles of modified and validated tool called Theory of constraints, used in management of the time schedules of projects, may be usable in project management in general. At theoretical level is PhD thesis the starting position for further exploration of the applicability of the tool of the Theory of Constraints.
