Abstract
Aeration and alkalinisation is commonly used for pre-treatment of naturally aggressive raw water with a high content of iron and manganese. Although this conventional solution is technologically fully functional, it brings relatively high operational costs of lime management and disposal of sludge from sedimentation unit and washing of filters. Replacement of lime clarification with a method using ozone mixed with oxygen, dosed to the raw water inlet to a water purification plant brings significant change in pre-treatment of naturally aggressive water containing iron and manganese. The dissertation deals with the possibilities of using ozone pre-treatment methods for the Quaternary of the Morava River groundwater containing iron, manganese and natural aggressiveness. Influence of ozone method in pre-treatment of raw water on subsequent water treatment is also evaluated.
