Abstract

Tereza Majstríková, Ph.D. Wooden elements were used in building structures for thousand years and are an integral part of theme. Wood has been, and is it still used mainly due to its advantageous physical and mechanical properties. The theoretical part of this Bachelor’s thesis deal with the history of the wood application in building structures, mechanical and physical characteristic of wood and the issue of wood degradation. Following the degradation of wood, the thesis it focused on historical treatment methods of wooden structures. In the practical part of this thesis, analyses are then performed on coating samples from various historical structures, in order to identify the approximate composition of these coatings. The next chapter in the practical part of this thesis will be the preparation of samples and treatment of one of the most used methods of historical wood treatment, namely with lime coating. We will test some mechanical characteristics on these samples over time.
