Abstract

The thesis submitted deals with biofuels and biomass, from their exact definitions to putting into individual groups, and individual biomass agents used for energy purposes are presented here as well. The biomass properties that are essential for subsequent utilization in combustion and individual exploitation of biomass as a fuel are described here. A summary of legal instruments, defining utilization and overall disposal of biofuels, is given in the following chapters. One of the methods of biofuel processing, namely thermal combustion as well as examples of boilers suitable for this utilization, are included in the conclusion of the thesis.
