Abstract
The submitted diploma thesis deals with the potential of development of wind energy in the Czech Republic. The diploma thesis consists of the process of production of electric energy, legal norms related to the operation of wind power plants, characteristics of other renewable sources of energy used in the Czech Republic, possibilities of replacement of thermal power plants by other sources of energy, the impact of wind power plants on employment in the Czech Republic and the potential of wind energy in the Czech Republic.
