Abstract

The subject of this master’s thesis is the development of an architectural study for a Museum of Contemporary Art and its adjacent public space. The project site is located in Prague, within the area of Rohanský Island, which forms part of the Karlín district. The aim of the thesis is to design an architecturally and urbanistically high-quality cultural institution that meets the requirements of contemporary museum operations while contributing to the formation of the identity of a newly emerging urban structure. The design places particular emphasis on the quality of the surrounding public space and its integration into broader urban relations. The architectural concept is developed with regard to long-term sustainability, functional interconnections, and openness to the public.
