Abstract

It is virtually impossible to produce steel that does not contain inclusions. Dangerous inclusions include sulfide inclusions II. type, which have a negative impact on the mechanical properties of the steel, especially on toughness. At the higher incidence of sulfide inclusions II. type may cause cracks in the castings leading to rupture and thus to degradation of the casting. Creating this type can be avoided by deoxidising steel by adding deoxidizing additives. The function od deoxidizing additives is to change the morphology of inclusions to the type of inclusions less dangerous for casting. This thesis deals with the change of morphology of sulfide inclusions in dependence on three filled profiles with content of calcium and admixture elements.
