Abstract
This thesis deals with the extraction and use of gravel in the Czech Republic. Contains characteristics of gravel, description of deposits, list of major mining companies and processors of raw materials in the country. In the last chapter are given economic data related to the extraction, production and sale of gravel in the years 2008 - 2011 at BEST, a.s. There are calculated the total costs, total revenues, earnings and profitability.
