Abstract

This Diploma thesis deals with the assessment and evaluation of current guidelines for risk elimination during open fire manipulation that is part of a pipeline maintenance. First part of the thesis is devoted to the theory of this topic, describing the pipeline, its purpose and it also lists the characteristics of transported substances. That is followed by a summary of legislation dealing with pipeline operations. Second part of the thesis deals with pipeline accidents. Described are the causes, effects and statistics of their occurrence. Third part of the thesis describes in detail the individual repair approaches including a description of followed security measures and an analysis of their risks. The last section of the text is devoted to an assessment of current ways of risk elimination in open fire manipulations and a suggestion for new risk eliminations and their implementation into practice.
