Heterogenní komunikace v řídicích systémech s programovatelnými automaty

Abstract

The topic of this diploma thesis is heterogenous communication in ABB control systems. Whole work is focused on the Modbus protocol, the communication using this protocol in ABB's 800xA systems, and testing projects which are using this protocol. The main goal of the thesis is to provide and demonstrate the possibilities of testing communication on ABB projects, which are using the above-mentioned protocol, without having to be connected to a real project HW. The secondary objectives are to conceptualize HW for testing purposes and for training purposes in ABB University, along with typical tasks for Modbus training in the 800xA system. The thesis is divided into a section informing about important features of Modbus protocol communication possibilities. The descriptive part also contains basic information on industrial communication issues related to the above-mentioned protocol. The practical part is focused on the design and implementation of the application providing industrial communication according to the specified data area of the project. The next step is to test the implemented application by simulating project devices. The benefit of this work for ABB is to save time for automation engineers to detect communication mistakes before and after commissioning the project. Another benefit of this work is a quick overview that provides the most important features and pitfalls of the protocol. The implemented application and its simulation testing is beneficial both to the improvement of project procedures and especially to the detection of testing capabilities, which leads to saving many valuable hours in commissioning.
