Abstract

Doctoral thesis deals with the genesis, spatial distribution and predictions of thrust structures in the eastern part of the Karvina subbasin (Upper Silesian Basin). This work is focused on the grant task GACR 105/04/0884 "Analysis of the structural-tectonic conditions Karvina basin (Upper Silesian Basin) in relation to the exploitation of coal seams in the extraction procedure to greater depths”. The work is divided into three main units. Introduction in the first chapter describes the structural-geological setting in the Czech part of the Upper Silesian Basin, including its structural-geological position. With regard to the localization of analyzed area in the eastern part of the Karvina partial basin, geological and structural-tectonic conditions in the Karvina basin are described in more detail in this part. The second part of the work contains crucial chapters. It includes structure-tectonic analysis of the eastern part of the Karvina partial basin and describes the methodology of data collection and structural-tectonic analysis. Particular attention was devoted to the genesis of thrust tectonics relation to the overall geological and structural-tectonic situation. The spatial distribution and genesis are discussed here on the basis of a structural-tectonics analysis. Synthesis is based not only on gathered primary documents, photographs, number of processed purpose maps, cross-sections, but also the confrontation with the results of analogue and numerical models published in literature. The conclusion of this thesis is devoted to the effects of thrust structures on mining activity - exploitation of coal seams in the Karvina subbasin. With regard to the long-term exploation, when the current techno-economic conditions expect twenty-year exploitation, among others, is a chapter devoted to space-time thrust structures links to present and future mining in the OKD (Ostrava- Karvina Mining District).
