Abstract

The bachelor thesis deals with analysis of microstructure of commercially pure titanium (CP-Ti) for biomedcial applications, processed by Equal – Channel Angular Pressing. The main characteristics of CP-Ti are considered in detail in the theoretical part (composition, microstructure, properties). Further basic principle of ECAP method, the methods of sample processing and processing conditions affecting the final microstructure of material are described. In the experimental part, grain size of CP Ti Grade 1 in the as-received state was measured by light microscopy and EBSD analysis, grain size of samples after 4 and 6 passes of ECAP was measured by EBSD analysis. Microhardness was determined for each sample. After 6 passes of ECAP the microstructure was mostly composed of equiaxed ultra-fine grains. The lowest grain size and the highest microhardness values were measured for samples after 6 passes compared with the original state and the state after 4 ECAP passes.
