Abstract

Waste water from different industrial sectors contains toxic substances that are harmful to the environment and humans. With increasing demands for environmental protection and stricter limits for discharging waste water into public streams and sewers, it is necessary to use appropriate methods to eliminate them. The most common waste water toxins from coke from chemical plants include ammonium, cyanide, phenols and a small amount of heavy metals. Such polluted waters are usually purified by biological processes.
