Abstract
Nickel base superalloys are highly resistant to high temperature and pressure, their application is especially in the aircraft industry for gas turbine engines production.
This paper is discussing the influence of the heat treatment on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the IN738LC alloy castings, where the theoretical part involves basic dividing of the nickel based superalloys, their microstructure, production and heat treatment. In the practical part some castings of the IN738LC alloy were studied which were formed by a investment casting where a part of the castings encountered standard heat treatment afterwards and the other part faced hot isostatic pressure before the standard heat treatment. Mechanical properties were evaluated by the tensile test and compared. To study the microstructure the optical and scanning electron microscopy was used.
