Abstract

The structural and substructural properties of cold-rolled TiNi shape memory alloys with reduction of 20 % are investigated. The deformation leads to a heating of the specimens and simultaneously to a reverse transformation of martensite B19' to the high temperature phase B2. The high temperature phase B2 is stabilized and thus a duplex structure composed of B2 bands decorated with the martensitic phase B19' is formed. This structure shows higher strength and favourable pseudoelastic properties.
