Abstract

This diploma thesis deals with the overview of development of nickel based alloys in terms of alloying, the occurrence of phases in nickel alloys structure and preparation of directional solidification and single crystals production. This work focuses especially on technological methods in preparation of directional solidification and single crystals production which are mainly used in energy and aircraft industry. In the preparation of these alloys the Bridgman method of directional solidification, usage of crystal seeds and eventually, selection of seeds during directional solidification are the most important. Attention is concentrated on directionally solidified Ni-Al-Mo “in situ” composites whose preparation and metallographic structure are discussed in the theoretical part of this work. Practical part of this work is devoted to preparation of samples with chemical composition close to the alloy IC6SX. There is particularly explored the effect of withdrawal rate on final microstructure of prepared samples. The microstructure of prepared samples is evaluated with EDS analysis.
