Abstract

In problem solving, methodologies Case-Based Reasoning and its extension – Episode Based Reasoning are used. They allow to solve new problems based on solving similar past problems and adapting results to new conditions. In Episode-Based Reasoning methodology, the knowledge from time series analysis is used. The purpose of this thesis is to find and implement methods of time series analysis, which are applicable in this methodology and their visualization in Windows Presentation Foundation technology. Implemented methods are subsequently tested on real data. Testing is focused on comparing the effectiveness of searching similar episodes using Euclidean distance and Dynamic Time Warping algorithm, the impact assessment of dimensionality reduction to the speed and accuracy of processing and finding the representative in cluster of episodes.
