Abstract

The aim of the thesis is the measurement of the shadow economy in the selected country and estimate the results. The methods that were used in the work are the description, estimation, inference and comparison. The work is divided into three chapters. The first chapter describes to the definition of basic concepts that are important for understanding the basics of the shadow economy. The second chapter describes the basic methods of measuring the informal economy, and focuses on specific empirical work. In the third chapter of the thesis is using the Gutmann method to implement an estimation of the shadow economy in the Czech Republic for the period 2002 to 2013. The chapter also presents the size of the shadow economy in selected countries. Attention is also paid to the shadow economy within the Visegrad Group coutries.
