Abstract

This thesis treats an overview of the most dramatic flood events, accompanied by examples of synoptic situations from the given affected period. The first part depicts a brief overview of hydrological characteristics of the Odra´s river basin and the course of using the water in the history, one part deals with natural conditions. Subsequently, an analysis of river basin problems and the types of floods in the area of the Czech Republic is elaborated. In the next part, the actual floods, heigths of rainfall are described, there are culminated flow rates accompanied by charts containing particular water-measuring stations, capacity of waves in the millions of cubic metres, the length of the wave are described among others. Patterns of allluviums and the satiation of Czech river basins are taken into consideration. The next part deals with an evaluation of past and recent floods, hydrosynotic situation, and the property damages are enumerated. In the very end the comparison of particular discussed floods is integrated. The objective of my thesis is first of all an evaluation of individual floods and finding the one that affected the inhibitants the most.
