Abstract

The main objective of this thesis is to describe inoculation process change in ductile cast foundry focused on small castings from 0,1 kg to 4,0 kg. The original method of inocu-lation was place inoculation on the top of the metal surface before pigging. It was changed for a method inoculation into the metal stream. In this thesis, I described and evaluated each kind of inoculation process from only place inoculation on the top of the metal surface, the only inoculation to the metal stream and their combinations. For evaluation, I used thermal analysis and results from this (coo-ling curves), one of the best tool for foundries. This method was implemented successfully. This method meets all goals. The influ-ence of the process change was valorized on the whole processes in the foundry and demon-strate financial impact on ductile cast production.
