Abstract

Bachelor's thesis "Folk-memory and culture in Environs of Opava" is a detailed description of everyday life in the villages Opavian region from the beginning of the 20th century until today. The first part is key to the natural and geological conditions that affect the later development of culture in this area. The second part deals with historical events involving prehistoric ages, medieval and modern times. An interesting part of the connection Environs of Hlučín to Germany during the 2nd World War II and the impact of this connection to the English language. The third part deals with the traditions of the Environs of Opava. These traditions are based mainly on Christianity. The last chapter describes the present way of life, preserved traditions and cultural and social events that become traditions. In conclusion, we see that although Christianity is disappearing from our lives, the most important holidays, just based on it is almost unchanged, and people are happy to continue celebrating.
