Abstract

The Bachelor thesis deals with the issue of determining the flash point of different concentrations of methanol-water mixtures. In the introductory chapters the concept of flammable liquids is summarized from the point of view of current legislation. Then the hazardous properties of methanol and its aqueous solutions are discussed with a focus on their flammability. The measured values of flash points are compared using statistical methods and subsequently these values are used to classify mixtures into hazard classes. The paper concludes with safety precautions for the use of methanol mixtures.
