Abstract
The diploma thesis deals with the impact of groundwater on load-bearing capacity of subsoil. Changing of strength parameters is obvious from the design of shallow foundations for nine-floor administrative building in Bratislava on Štefánikova Street for two types of subsoil – for sandy soils and clayey soils. The proposal is verified for ordinary conditions (soils with natural moisture) and for floods (fully saturated soils).
The theoretical part describes geotechnical problems of providing buildings’ stability during flood situations, building failures cased by floods and flood protection systems.
