Abstract

This diploma thesis deals with examination of influence KOH and H3PO4 addition on the growth of TiO2 particle size in dependence on calcination temperature. The process is characterized by a modified kinetic model, which was proposed in the previous bachelor thesis for a material without impregnating additives. The optical properties of resulting product of calcination was evaluated to find the effect of additives. Course of the calcination process, effect of temperature and additives is described in the theoretical part of the thesis as well as the influence of abovementioned parameters on resulting products properties. The experimental part of the thesis describes preparation samples, which were analysed mainly from the pigment optical properties point of view. Tinting strength, undertone, particle size and specific conductivity of aqueous extracts belongs to the most important monitored properties. The process was carried out in two types of calciners, a muffle furnace and a rotary furnace, to compare reachable results. Trends of selected properties of the product are monitored with respect to the evolution of calcination process conditions, especially on temperature, calcination time, and various type and amount of additives. The kinetic model characterizing growth TiO2 particles process covers effect of calcination temperature and calcination time. Newly the effect of additives is discussed here.
