Vliv socioekonomických faktorů na volební zisky extrémistických stran

Abstract

This thesis examines the impact of socioeconomic factors on the electoral performance of extremist political parties. Using a dynamic panel regression with fixed effects (FE OLS), the analysis covers 36 countries over the period from 1960 to 2021. A wide range of socioeconomic variables is considered, with special emphasis on the role of education investment. The results show that investment in the education system has a negative effect on the electoral outcomes of both far-right and far-left parties. In other words, higher investment in education reduces electoral support for extremist parties. This effect may be linked to a higher level of critical thinking or better ability to navigate complex social issues among better-educated populations. The thesis thus highlights the importance of public education policies for the sustainability of democratic systems, which are a crucial foundation for long-term economic growth.
