Abstract

This bachelor thesis focuses on the measurement of the basic life function, namely the heart rate. The correct heart rate is necessary for the proper functioning of the human body, and therefore, to estimate this frequency, a relatively large number of detection methods have been developed. In the first part I describe the usual methods of estimation that are commonly used in medicine. With the development of new technologies, conveniences of this time are coming. One of them is the fibre Bragg grating (FBG) whose operation principle will be used to monitor heart rate. In the second part I describe the operation principle of this FBG. In the third part are described measurement methods of heart rate using the FBG based sensors. The purpose of the thesis is designing of such a sensor. Based on existing FBG sensors for heart rate measurement, an own sensor is designed. The practical part of the thesis contains heart rate measurements of person in lyining position using the FBG based senzor. For comparison, a reference sensor is used, that determines the accuracy of the proposed sensor using the Bland-Altman diagram.
