Abstract

This thesis deals with the international trade of Sub-Saharan Africa. The aim is to determine the impact of international trade on living standards of the population. The first part is devoted to theories of international trade that were developed in the course of history. The second part focuses on Sub-Saharan Africa region itself. Basic information about countries and population of the region are given. Further the thesis deals with the history of Sub-Saharan Africa in terms of international trade. There are also described current problems of the region which are barriers to further economic development. The last chapter focuses on the analysis of international trade and living standards. At first current economic performance of Sub-Saharan Africa is described with the use of basic macroeconomic indicators and then the relationship between international trade and living standards is examined with the use of statistical method correlation analysis.
