Abstract
The supply of fresh water and fire water under normal conditions and in emergency is considered to be of the basic purpose of public water mains. It is hard to provide an emergency supply of fresh and fire water under given pressure for inhabitants, objects of emergency infrastructure, fire security and those who are inherently dependent on the supply of water from the water supply system mainly in case of lack of water in the sources and its low hydraulic efficiency. This thesis analyses various factors which reduce the success of emergency water supply. The findings gained are then taken into consideration in assessing of the water supply system in the town of Třinec. A suggestion of how to improve the present situation is also a part of this work.
