Abstract

The aim of this dissertation is to introduce the technology and its issues in biomass gasification for the production of synthesis gas (syngas) which is produced for the purpose of utilisation in the cogeneration unit for the production of electric and thermal energy. The dissertation explains the concept of biomass and its optimal properties for use in the form of fuel. This is followed by a presentation of the historical milestones of gasification, a description of the individual technologies and the produced syngas. The gas is described by its composition, the contained impurities, the possible ways of removing these impurities and the basic methods of gas utilisation. The dissertation further describes the specific gasification plant with a cogeneration unit in Mokrance in Slovakia. The parameters of the plant and the measured values of syngas and flue gas composition are given here. In conclusion, an evaluation of the acquired knowledge from the plant in Moldova is carried out.
