Abstract
The introduction of this work discusses the theory relating to the biological removal of whole nitrogen from wastewater in an activation tank.
The first part summarizes legislative requirements that set emmision standards of the highest permissible levels of pollution in wastewater. The section further summarizes emmision limits set by the Office of Water for the highest permissible levels of pollution in wastewater released into ground water.
Further discussion focuses on the description of the present cascade process used at the sewage treatment plant in Opava.
In the next parts are explained individual biological water treatment processes utilized in the cascade.
Further sections provide a practical evaluation of the cascade process of water treatment in Opava from the perspective of the biological removal of organic polutants, concentrating, above all, on the whole nitrogen removal proces
The work then evaluated the efficiency of the water treatment before and after the reconstruction of the cascade process.
Finally, the work concludes with a section recommending potential improvements on the present water treatment process and with a summary of the results of an effective whole nitrogen removal process.
