Abstract

WJM (Waterjet Machining) is a progressive technology applied for cutting, machining and cleaning a wide range of materials. It is also effectively used at reconstructions and demolitions of buildings. The possibilities and usage of the WJM technology are very wide and are far from being exhausted. The aim of the presented diploma thesis was to carry out a comparison of the operating of a mobile and stationary waterjet beam from the point of view of safety, based on the experience of a particular mobile working site of the NET company, Ltd. and from the Waterjet Beam Laboratory at the VŠB-Technical University of Ostrava. Due to the fact that during the time when this thesis was being written the high-flow pump in the Waterjet Beam Laboratory at the VŠB-Technical University of Ostrava was out of service, information and data from a stationary working site of the company TALPA – RPF, Ltd. was used to fulfill the aims of this thesis. In the thesis I first described the principles of WJM and the possible usage of this progressive technology. Furthermore, the kinds of working sites using abrasive water jet were described. In following chapters I was dealing with safety risks when working at mobile and stationary working sites and with the elimination of these risks. At the end the comparison of mobile and stationary working sites from the point of view of the safety of work was produced. The presented data and information lead to the conclusion that the stationary working site appears, as regards to safety, to provide less risk.
