Abstract

Diploma thesis is focused on the study of continuously casting steel conditions on banded structure of as-rolled bars which can negatively affects anisotropy of the mechanical properties. The theoretical part of the thesis is focused on solidification of steel that leads to micro and macrosegregation and deals with the ways how to suppress the segregation phenomena, that affects the resulting rate of banded structure. The experimental part of the thesis deals with the analysis of casting structure and the possibilities of quantification of its quality in comparison to the final banded structure. The casting structure was studied for various casting models including changes in casting speed, superheat and electromagnetic stirring.
